SUMMARY:Natural Satellite w/ Brittany Jean and Matt Blake at Gibson Community Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Songwriter Showcase at the Listening Room at Gibson Community Music Hall! Mile of Music veterans Natural Satellite will be joined by fellow Mile 8 performer Matt Blake and Washington’s Brittany Jean. \nWho: Natural Satellite\, Brittany Jean\, Matt Blake\nWhen: Thursday\, July 7 at 7:00 PM (Doors at 6:30 PM)\nWhere: Gibson Community Music Hall (211 W College Ave\, Appleton)\nAdmission: $10 at the door; Free for Mile of Music Music-Makers \nNATURAL SATELLITE: \nLove and music: two things that have been at the very center of Karli and Jason’s relationship since the beginning. Karli\, a classically trained cellist\, met Jason Reisdorf in 2011 while attending the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (UWSP). They quickly fell in love. After earning their music degrees\, they moved to the Fox Valley in hopes of creating a new life for themselves. Jason\, a talented saxophonist\, had no problem immersing himself in the Fox Valley’s bustling music scene and was soon performing in a number of groups. Karli\, however\, was unsure of herself as a musician and decided to focus her attention on other interests. It wasn’t until Karli found herself in a deep depression that she began regularly playing her instrument again. She started writing songs as a way to heal\, process\, and explore her innermost feelings. After showing Jason a few of these songs\, the couple began writing and creating together. From there\, Natural Satellite was born. \nBRITTANY JEAN: \nOriginally from West Chicago\, IL\, Brittany Jean is a folk singer/songwriter based in the Pacific Northwest\, currently living in a little\, apple town in Washington. Brittany’s style is rooted in the folk and Americana music she has loved all her life\, and in one way or another\, every song she sings is a love song.\n\nDuring the past few years\, Brittany’s performances have ventured farther and farther from home — opening for Three Dog Night’s sold out show at the City Winery in New York City\, playing the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville\, performing at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas\, taking on her first international tour on Vancouver Island\, British Columbia… to name a few adventures!\n\nBrittany has released five\, full-length albums — all recorded in Nashville: Whispered Stories\, Leavin’ Home\, Wander With Me\, All The Love\, and Wintertide… \nMATT BLAKE: \nMaybe watching his father preach from the pulpit had something to do with Matt Blake becoming a songwriter\, or listening to his mother\, a librarian\, read books to him as a kid. Singing felt natural. Words were meant to be heard and stories were meant to be told. This conclusion has sent Matt Blake on a worldwide journey down roads and through decades of cities and songs.\n\nHe landed in Appleton\, Wisconsin\, where he pieces together stories and melody. His 2014 record ‘All The Dirt In Town’ contains ten songs featuring a track with Lucinda Williams\, and his current record ‘Cheaper To Fly’ will be released in the Fall.\n\n
