SUMMARY:Spotlight on Jazz: Stuck On Blue\, Sweater People
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Gibson Community Music Hall as we welcome Stuck on Blue and Sweater People for a night of original jazz showcases! \nWho: Stuck on Blue\, Sweater People\nWhen: Thursday\, January 19 at 7 PM (Doors at 6:30 PM)\nWhere: Gibson Community Music Hall (211 W College Ave\, Appleton)\nAdmission: $10 at the door \nSTUCK ON BLUE: \nStuck On Blue is the musical partnership between Kelvin Kaspar\, Jake Crowe\, and Mike Malone. The trio\, formed by accident in 2015\, began after working together in various groups for nearly a decade. Their friendship and mutual respect for original music led each of them to contribute original works\, while collectively crafting songs into something new and special to this new group. \nIn 2016\, they recorded and released their debut album\, Direct From The Source\, which was recorded live at The Source Public House in Menasha\, WI. Since then\, Stuck On Blue has been featured in various concert series across the state\, but still maintain a regular schedule of performing at plenty of settings in the Fox Valley. \nSWEATER PEOPLE: \nFrom detailed soundscapes to improvisational combustions\, Sweater People creates a unique musical world with each composition. \nBased out of Eau Claire\, Wisconsin\, Hans Fuerst (Keys)\, Will DeBlaey (Bass)\, and North Skager (Drums) explore sonic textures while maintaining their commitment to groove. \nStrongly rooted in jazz\, Sweater People embrace tight chord clusters\, intricate rhythmic patterns\, and precise group interplay with an ear for communal improvisation. This creates musical journeys that combine spare funk with an ear for cinematic drama. \n
