DESCRIPTION:With April nearing its end\, we at Gibson Community Music Hall welcome three more fantastic female artists to the stage for Women In Song. Nashville’s Erinn Peet Lukes and Stacy Antonel are joined by Madison’s own Caley Conway for a Thusday night throwdown. \nWho: Erinn Peet Lukes\, Stacy Antonel\, Caley Conway\nWhen: Thursday\, April 28 at 7:00 pm (Doors at 6:00)\nWhere: Gibson Community Music Hall (211 W College Ave\, Appleton)\nCost: $10 at the door \nERINN PEET LUKES: \nErinn Peet Lukes is originally from the sunny shores of Redondo Beach\, California. She left home at eighteen to explore the music scenes of Seattle and New York City. Lukes tested out her original songs playing at open mics and learned to capture a crowd while busking in subway stations and at Pike Place Market. \nIn 2013\, she moved to Denver and formed a bluegrass band called Thunder and Rain. The band toured the US\, Ireland\, and the UK in it’s seven year run. Bluegrass’s influence helped shape the flatpick-style of guitar playing that compliments her crystal clear\, lilting voice\, vivid lyrics and catchy melodies. \nThunder and Rain disbanded in 2020 and she moved to Nashville\, Tennessee. Erinn released her second solo EP\, “EPL” in March 2022. In her career\, Erinn has opened for Billy Strings\, Krueger Brothers\, Brothers Comatose\, Peter Rowan\, Rachel Baiman and John Paul White of the Civil Wars. \nSTACY ANTONEL: \nAntonel grew up in a seaside San Diego town called Ocean Beach\, listening to pop and R&B hits and studying classical piano until she was eighteen. She cites an eclectic range of artists as her earliest musical inspirations: Tori Amos for her peculiar phrasing and distinct songwriting\, Otis Redding for his rich\, emotive vocal delivery. After graduating from UC Berkeley\, she moved to Buenos Aires\, where she answered a Craigslist ad for a singer who sounds like June Carter Cash\, and contributed vocals to several jingles for MTV and Jeep that aired throughout Latin America. She sang in a friend’s electro-cumbia band for a while before returning to California\, where she started singing professionally at weddings\, bars\, and local venues. But it wasn’t until discovering country music that she felt at home. \nIn 2014\, Antonel won $10\,000 in a televised local singing contest\, “3 Minutes to Stardom”\, and quit her job to focus on music. She formed a country band later that year\, performing covers of classic country hits as Ginger Cowgirl\, and in 2017 moved to Nashville to record her debut EP at the city’s Historic RCA Studio C. Ginger Cowgirl released their debut self-titled EP in 2019\, featuring five original songs and one cover (a blend of Patsy Cline’s and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”). The EP was praised as an “Americana tour de force” with “razor sharp lyrical wit” and a “refreshing mix of old school and modern spin”. In late 2019 Antonel toured California and the Southeast\, and in early 2020 toured the UK and Germany before the world shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. \nIn 2021\, Antonel teamed up with guitarist Paul Sgroi (who won 2nd place in the 2021 National Flat Pick Guitar Championship) to work on her debut full-length album\, Always the Outsider\, set for release in June 2022 under her own name. \nCALEY CONWAY: \nRooted in folk but hardly bound to it\, Caley Conway’s inventive style ranges from jazz to post-rock\, hints at the familiar\, and embraces a dissonant beauty. The Milwaukeean’s breezy voice and disarming wit belie a deep complexity\, bringing a new set of rules to the singer-songwriter paradigm. Across her career\, Conway has shared stages with such heavy hitters as Phoebe Bridgers\, Julien Baker\, Lomelda\, and more. 2020\, deprived though it was of live performances\, had her staying busy with several recording and mixing projects. The first of these\, an EP titled Bliss or Bust is set for release in May. \n
