SUMMARY:Alash {Throat Singing Folk Trio from the Republic of Tuva}
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 19th:\nA Cultural Exchange Sunday Matinee showcasing\nAlash {Throat Singing Folk Trio from the Republic of Tuva}\nMatinee Showtime: 4 pm | Doors: 3 pm | Educational Meet-and-Greet Reception: 3:30 pm\nAdmission: $20 Advance\nMusic-Makers receive exclusive discount for this special cultural showcase using their special/standard promo code.\nAll advance buyers will be guaranteed a seat reservation with name card placed to designate their seat.\nThis is an all-seated\, all-listening theater-style performance. \nWhat does throat singing sound like? “Imagine a human bagpipe—a person who could sing a sustained low note while humming an eerie\, whistle-like melody. For good measure\, toss in a thrumming rhythm similar to that of a jaw harp\, but produced vocally-by the same person\, at the same time.” \nALASH ensemble is a trio of master throat singers (xöömeizhi) from Tuva\, a tiny republic in the heart of Inner Asia. The ancient art of throat singing (xöömei) developed among the nomadic herdsmen of this region. Alash remains grounded in this tradition while expanding its musical vocabulary with new ideas from the West. The ensemble is named for the Alash River\, which runs through the northwestern region of Tuva. The Alash River has also inspired a couple of Tuvan songs which carry its name. All members of Alash were trained in traditional Tuvan music since childhood\, first learning from their families\, and later becoming students of master throat singers. In 1999\, as students at Kyzyl Arts College\, they formed a group called Changy-Xaya and soon became the resident traditional ensemble on campus. At the same time they learned about western music\, practiced on hybrid Tuvan-European instruments\, and listened to new trends coming out of America. \n

SUMMARY:An Evening with SIRSY - a Gibson Encore!
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 25th:\nAn Evening with SIRSY – a Gibson Encore!\nSIRSY will perform two sets of their trademark blend of movin’- and groovin’-inducing rock\, pop and folk\, with space set aside for those attendees who can’t help but dance or dance-in-place. \nShowtime: 7:30 pm | Doors: 6:30 pm\nAdmission: $16 Advance | $20 at the door\nMusic-Makers receive an exclusive discount for this show with their standard promo code.\nThis is an all-seated show with advance buyers guaranteed a seat. Seat locations are available on a first-come\, first-served basis upon entry. \n  \nSIRSY is a rock and soul duo with lots of pop sensibility and just the right amount of sass. The Boston Globe sums it up\, “Little band. Big Sound.” No more needs to be said. Although the only thing “little” about Sirsy is that there’s just two of them. The rest is bigger than a T-Rex. Close your eyes and listen to the power and heart in their music and you’ll swear there’s more than two people on stage. It’s crank up the volume\, sing along at the top of your lungs music — even when the ballads kick in. Plus\, “Their clever\, smart songs have more hooks than a tacklebox.” (-Times Union). \n

SUMMARY:Fantastic Cat!
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 26th:\nFantastic Cat!\n7:00pm Showtime | 6:00pm Doors \nSeated VIP Tickets (Front Section): $40\nSeated Preferred Tickets (Back Section): $32.50\nStanding General Admission (Front of stage/middle section): $25 \n  \nDubbed “the Harlem Globetrotters of Americana” by Rolling Stone and “The Wu-Tang Clan of folk rock” by The Village Voice\, Fantastic Cat is\, much like pornography\, better seen than described. Featuring four widely lauded singer/songwriters who trade vocals and swap instruments on nearly every tune\, the band emerged to broad critical acclaim with the release of their irreverent debut\, The Very Best of Fantastic Cat\, which earned the group their first national TV appearance\, sold out headline dates around the US and Europe\, a performance at the Sundance Film Festival\, and a song in the Paramount+ series Tulsa King. Two years later\, they followed it up with the similarly celebrated Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat\, which featured an appearance from Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz\, landed the band dates with Dawes and Lucius\, and prompted WFUV to declare them “one of the best Americana and rock bands to tumble out of New York over the last few years.” \n

Their exceptional vocal harmonies\, coupled with Fer’s pioneering electric guitar work\, have become a vehicle to carry them around the world\, sharing stages with the likes of Iron & Wine\, Lake Street Dive\, and Watchhouse. Sway Wild’s infectious sound explores the corners of rock\, pop\, funk\, worldbeat\, and folk\, but at its nucleus it is undeniably a music full of joy. It can squeeze the heart in your chest\, it can draw tears from your eyes\, and it can force you to get up and move your body; over and over\, it somehow manages to do all three at once. Mandy Fer also tours as the lead guitarist for Amos Lee and Allison Russell and has recently performed with Brandi Carlile. \n
