About the show:
In 2023, TYLER SJ. (formerly of Mile of Music act The Relics) returned to Appleton stages after nearly five years away with a new story to tell. Fatherhood and sobriety had changed his outlook, and this hard-earned perspective informs his new collection of original songs, “Long Bit of Weather.” Recorded under the steady hand of Marc Golde at Rock Garden Studios, Tyler plugs his various influences – 90s pop and country, acoustic folk, verbose balladry – into a playlist-ready group of tunes that listeners will find immediately familiar.
For this album release showcase, he will be joined by a band that includes Molly Levine of The Raglanders, Ric Armstrong of Kurt Gunn Band, Dylan O’Connor of Driftwood, and Chad Muenster of Vic Ferrari.
Kicking off this special evening of original music will be Mile of Music favorites and friends of Gibson Music Hall, Amelia Ford and Michael Grabner.
Indie Rock Artist, 8-Time WAMI Finalist, & Winner of WAMI 2023’s Album of the Year, AMELIA FORD mixes soft soprano with raw grit in her 50+ original alt-rock songs. Likened to Alanis Morissette, Amelia’s music is passionate, her lyrics uniquely-phrased, and her trademark introspection humorous. Almost 2 years after the release of her debut album, Amelia still maintains regular airplay on 91.1 The Avenue, 105.7 WAPL, and various other Wisconsin stations. Make sure you catch this up-and-coming WI artist so you can say, “I knew her when.”
MICHAEL GRABNER is an Appleton, WI based singer/songwriter who blends the intricate finger style guitar and down and out lyrics of Townes Van Zandt with the energy and attention grabbing hooks of Tom Petty. His unique take on Americana and roots music is informed by a diverse list of influences that range from Radiohead to Hank Williams. Michael recently released his second full length album, “A Story I Can’t Tell”, and was a 2023 Wisconsin Area Music Industry finalist for singer-songwriter of the year and acoustic guitar player of the year.
