ABOUT THE SHOW
JD Eicher has been one of the most-talked-about solo performers at Mile of Music through its nine-year run. His smooth and soulful vocals, gifted guitar playing and heartfelt songwriting have made him a fan favorite of not just The Mile crowd but also a sought-after touring artist.
Mile of Music is thrilled to join Gibson Community Music Hall to host JD along with touring mate, Christian Lopez, on Friday, November 18 for a top-level Songwriters Showcase in the renowned Listening Room at Gibson.
JD Eicher is a Youngstown, OH-area born and bred musician known for expressive vocals and meaningful, carefully-crafted lyrics. He possesses “an original voice, both literally and figuratively. With a lyrical talent culled from the great tradition of American singer/songwriters, Eicher also brings the melodic sensibility of great British songwriters such as Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello.” (Wildy’s World)
With four full-length albums to his credit, JD was enlisted to create the soundtrack to author Nicholas Sparks’s (The Notebook, A Walk To Remember) 20th novel, Two By Two. The now stand-alone release consists of songs sourced from his previous albums, along with the title track, written specifically for the novel and its themes.
An artist who tours extensively in the US, Eicher also founded the Youngstown, OH-based JD’s Summer Songfest festival in 2014, which showcases national and local artists and raises money for a variety of community non-profits. He has shared billing with a wide range of well-known acts, including Coldplay, Maroon 5, Train, Dave Matthews Band, The Fray, Matt Nathanson, Sister Hazel, and more. In early 2022, Eicher will tour with his band in support of his new album, which will be his first release through NYC-based record label, Antifragile Music. It will be available on streaming sites and CD.
Christian Lopez isn’t merely riding the wave of Americana, the West Virginian native is bending it to its knees. As the son of a music teacher, he was learning piano and guitar by the time he was in kindergarten, and he recorded his debut album, produced by Americana super-producer Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton) when he was just 18. But on his new album The Other Side, Lopez transcends all of those hot-shot titles to emerge a well-rounded and experienced artist.
