The Furious Bongos are a Zappa project featuring musicians who have played alongside heavyweights like Yo Yo Ma, Mick Fleetwood, and Les Paul.

This isn’t strictly a “tribute” band – doing a note-for-note rendition of Song X from Album Y while staring at their shoes didn’t seem like the proper way to go about it. The result is a show that pays respect to Zappa’s legacy but is still new and different and dangerous, with lots of eyebrows.

Kinda like Frank.

* The Accords *

The Accords released their first EP “Paper Rhymes” in 2018, they have since worked with Grammy-Award winning producer Gavin Lurssen, on their two most recent singles “Vega’s Sun” and “Feels Like”.

This Wisconsin band has performed at many venues across the Midwest, including Summerfest.

The bands jam-based improvisations make for a memorable musical experience.
They have a unique blend of voices that enhance their sound, which is reminiscent of Southern California rock.

* Of The Orchard *

Of The Orchard was founded upon the roots of singer/songwriter, Ben Vanden Boogaard, and his desire to expand out from performing as a solo artist to being surrounded by a full band. In the winter of 2017, Ben recruited Lewis Wethall (drums), Alec Thicke (bass/backing vocals), and Zach Ward (guitar) to embark with him on a project called “10 in 10” where the four of them would record, film, and release a new single, accompanied by a music video, every month for 10 months between March 2017 – December 2017.

After several months of playing together and many enjoyable social outings later, the four guys began brainstorming a way for everyone to be included in the band name, as the project was originally started under Ben’s solo project, Ben Vanden Boogaard. A few evenings were spent brainstorming names which, needless to say, ended in failure as some of the “favorites” were: Benny and the Windmills, Daddy Tops, and Blood Kitten. Eventually, Of The Orchard emerged as the favorite, coming from the English translation of Ben’s last name: Vanden Boogaard.

Their unique sound combines each of the band members’ varied musical backgrounds including acoustic singer/songwriters, blues rock, and punk rock into one cohesive sound. As a result, Of The Orchard sounds like a love-child between John Mayer and Third Eye Blind, giving listeners thoughtful lyricism surrounded by melodious indie-rock.
