“Electrifyingly new and strangely familiar at the same time…with his mix of modern sounds and old-fashioned feeling, Raymond is steering jazz in the right direction.” (Downbeat Magazine)

Recently voted as a Rising Star Trumpeter in the Downbeat Magazine Critic’s Poll, John Raymond has been making a name for himself as one of the most promising, up-and-coming jazz musicians in New York. Originally from Minneapolis, MN, John has performed with some of most well-respected names in jazz including Billy Hart, Orrin Evans, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ethan Iverson, and Linda Oh among others. His latest album “Real Feels” was released to widespread acclaim, including a ★★★★1/2 Downbeat review and was included on the Best Jazz Albums of 2016 by Stereogum.

Raymond’s trio “Real Feels” is a unique bass-less band that includes rising stars Gilad Hekselman (guitar) and Colin Stranahan (drums). The group incorporates indie-rock inspired originals and covers as well as puts a fresh spin on familiar songs, many of them stemming from Raymond’s roots as a Midwesterner. From American folk songs like Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” to classic hymns such as “Amazing Grace,” to Lennon & McCartney’s “Blackbird,” to Thom Yorke’s “Atoms for Peace,” the music undoubtedly evokes a nostalgia for the past. However, “Real Feels” is far from being antiquated; the band’s improvisational, free-wheeling, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of approach to the music makes the songs feel entirely relevant.

The Incorruptibles burst onto the Milwaukee roots music scene in 2013, showcasing their unique brand of “Rock & Rollin’ Blues-a-Billy” that has built them a solid following in Southeastern Wisconsin. Amy Ashby handles the upright bass with big-time attitude and tops it off with soulful vocals. Guitarist and vocalist Jimmy McCarthy brings more than forty years of experience on the Wisconsin blues scene to the party, and veteran drummer Bill Siebert keeps the fire burning all night long! Elements of Rock & Roll, Rockabilly, Blues, R&B, Soul and you-name-it can be found in The Incorruptibles’ music – sometimes all in the same song.

First off, we have Dylan Finley aka “The Unknown King” performing a solo acoustic set. Dylan is a Wisconsin born singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Dylan creates music that draws from rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic and folk music. His lyrics are poetic and honest, while demonstrating unique perspectives. He aspires to be the next Rick Rubin, desiring to help all kinds of artists reach their maximum potential.

Secondly, we have Cullen Sampson. Cullen performs with 2 accompanying musicians (forming a trio), one who plays the keys and another that plays the cajon. Heavily influenced by Paul Simon, Imogen Heap and Jon Bellion. His style reflects a mixture of Pop, folk and Indie Music. He looks to inspire a generation of dreamers to create in unique ways while shining their light into new avenues of thought.

Last but not least, we have Bear In The Forest. Bear will also be performing a solo acoustic set. Alberto Kanost, known on stage as Bear, is a singer/songwriter from Milwaukee. An incredibly soulful Indie Folk singer and gifted guitar player, Bear can lull an entire room into a trance. At only 19 years old, his future is as bright as they come.

Formed in late 2010, Tweed Funk has been an integral part of the “soul-revival” movement with their own style of Memphis flavored soul, roots, and blues. This Milwaukee, Wisconsin 6 piece soul-blues revue is fronted by Joseph “Smokey” Holman, who recorded under Curtis Mayfield in the early 70’s. Tweed Funk boasts 5 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Wins since 2012 for the band and its members. In April of 2016 the band released their fourth CD, “Come Together”, consisting of 10 new original tunes. Tweed Funk toured the Midwest and east coast of the United States in support of their new album. Tweed Funk’s new album hit #11 on the RMR Top 50 Blues Charts; reached #19 on the Living Blues Charts; and featured as Dan Aykroyd’s (aka Elwood Blues) Blues-Breaker on the internationally syndicated radio program on TheBluesmobile.com

In March of 2016 front man, Joseph “Smokey” Holman, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The band took a 7 month hiatus in the latter part of 2016 while Smokey underwent a successful stem cell transplant. Following his treatment the band is returning to the concert and festival stage in 2017.
