Karate School is an indie rock band from Appleton WI featuring Kevin Koutnik and friends.  Born out of excess material song writer Kevin Koutnik had sitting on the shelf. Today Karate School has become a full fledged band with roots in Shoegaze, Post Punk, and Pop.

Stuck On Blue is an original jazz trio from Oshkosh, WI. They released their first album, Direct From The Source in July of 2016. The Incorruptibles burst onto the Milwaukee roots music scene in 2013, showcasing their unique brand of “Rock & Rollin’ Blues-a-Billy” that has built them a solid following in Southeastern Wisconsin. Amy Ashby handles the upright bass with big-time attitude and tops it off with soulful vocals. Guitarist and vocalist Jimmy McCarthy brings more than forty years of experience on the Wisconsin blues scene to the party, and veteran drummer Bill Siebert keeps the fire burning all night long! Elements of Rock & Roll, Rockabilly, Blues, R&B, Soul and you-name-it can be found in The Incorruptibles’ music – sometimes all in the same song.

First off, we have Dylan Finley aka “The Unknown King” performing a solo acoustic set. Dylan is a Wisconsin born singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Dylan creates music that draws from rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic and folk music. His lyrics are poetic and honest, while demonstrating unique perspectives. He aspires to be the next Rick Rubin, desiring to help all kinds of artists reach their maximum potential.

Secondly, we have Cullen Sampson. Cullen performs with 2 accompanying musicians (forming a trio), one who plays the keys and another that plays the cajon. Heavily influenced by Paul Simon, Imogen Heap and Jon Bellion. His style reflects a mixture of Pop, folk and Indie Music. He looks to inspire a generation of dreamers to create in unique ways while shining their light into new avenues of thought.

Last but not least, we have Bear In The Forest. Bear will also be performing a solo acoustic set. Alberto Kanost, known on stage as Bear, is a singer/songwriter from Milwaukee. An incredibly soulful Indie Folk singer and gifted guitar player, Bear can lull an entire room into a trance. At only 19 years old, his future is as bright as they come.

His unique piano skill & trumpet style has entertained audiences at shows throughout the world. As well as leading his own touring band, he has performed with some of the best musicians of rock, country, & jazz.

Gibson Music Hall is happy to announce Kurt Stein’s School of Music Posse will be opening for Tweed Funk! Come see KSSOM Posse play some funk, soul, and jazz this Saturday evening. They hit the stage at 5! No Cover!

Gwen Leaffe has been described as “relentless,” a “force of nature,” “multi-faceted” and “multi- talented.” As a singer and songwriter, she has been relentless in pursuit of excellence both live and in the recording studio since beginning her career at age 16.

Educated at world-renowned Interlocken Arts Academy and The Art Institute of Chicago, her voice and her lyrics have been informed by her American Indian heritage and her lifelong fight for social justice. Her multi-faceted voice with its uncommon range brings more than enough power to an R&B or uptempo jazz tune and yet adds nuance, an almost angelic subtlety, and new meaning to her own compositions as well as songs like Leon Russell’s “Song For You” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

Her lyrics are at once ear-pleasing and thought-provoking; she has an ear for melodies that draw the listener in and complement her voice in a unique and engaging way. She is a mesmerizing and highly entertaining live performer who can quiet a room with insights drawn from her singular and unusual life, lift spirits with inspiration and get the laughter started and keep it going with her gift for intelligent humor.

Whether powering a social justice musical program or simply singing songs – in French and Portuguese as well as English – that you want to hear, Gwen Leaffe always makes you glad you listened.
