Billy Bronsted and the Loot are a predominately hard-playing, big-sounded duo from Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Billy and his percussionist, John Kneipp were both born and raised in Tomahawk, Wi, where their love for music was definitely thought of as unique. Tomahawk is a place full of grounded, family oriented, peaceful, hardworking people. Strong values were instilled, shaping the way they walk through their lives. Their peaceful upbringing has played a major hand in their sound; as story-telling and writing is second nature to them. The duo’s rythmic sound of the drum mixed with Bronsted’s plucking puts the listener in a feel-good vibe. Listening to their albums, you almost feel as if you’ve been pulled into the woods around a campfire and you’re listening to their stories set to music.

The duo first came together musically in 2008. Billy Bronsted and John Kneipp made their first series of demos with friends. Shortly after, with John on a 3 year hiatus from music, Billy found himself working on multiple musical projects. During this time, he worked on building his talents and reputation in close collaboration with David Blessent, with whom he founded projects such as Linus and the Lute and One Strong Army.

Since John’s return to music, John and Billy have been hard at work creating their next evolution as performing artists, Billy Bronsted & The Loot.

The Loot often consists of just Billy and John but the boys have been known to collaborate with several Wisconsin artists while they continue to expand their sound.

Add extra fun to your Sunday Funday as Andrea von Kampen & Auralai will be performing live at Gibson Music Hall on July 28th, at 3:00 PM. Doors at 2pm with mimosas and bloody marys a-plenty!

Andrea von Kampen is an independent folk singer-songwriter based in Lincoln, Nebraska, whose effortless vocal delivery has been praised by Hear Nebraska as “soulful and worn-in.” With the successful release of two EP’s, Another Day (2015) and Desdemona (2016), a Christmas EP (2016), an Audiotree Live album (2017), and her debut full-length album Old Country (2019), Andrea has quickly established herself in the recording studio and on the road. She has shared the stage with artists such as Tall Heights, Ira Wolf, Dead Man Winter, The Brother Brothers, Dead Horses, Darling West and many more.

Old Country, Andrea von Kampen’s debut full-length album, was released on February 8th, 2019. The album was recorded and mastered in Nebraska and features exclusively Nebraska-based musicians. Inspiration for Andrea’s songs often come from literature, art, and nature; in particular the literature and nature of Nebraska and the Midwest. The title track, Old Country, is based on the book “My Ántonia” by Nebraska author Willa Cather.

Her single, Portland, received notable attention including features on The Bluegrass Situation, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Additionally, Amazon Music Canada featured Portland in their ‘Top Songs of 2018’ playlist. In a review of Portland, Ear To The Ground Music said, “It’s not so much about where you’re going, but that you want to get away. That emotion of “idealistic escapism” is one that listeners can all connect with, whether or not we want to go to Oregon or somewhere else. The inflection in von Kampen’s vocal has the conviction of a gospel track and the sincerity of a Dylan folk ballad.”

ABOUT THUNDER AND RAIN
Thunder and Rain is a 4-piece acoustic Americana band from the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Consisting of acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro, and upright bass, Thunder and Rain seamlessly blends their favorite elements of bluegrass, country, pop and alt-rock to cultivate their own take on the American roots music traditions. Driven by the catchy choruses and dreamy melodies sung by Erinn Peet-Lukes, the band perfectly supports her heartfelt songwriting with strong country grooves, lush harmonies and rich instrumental decoration.

ABOUT NO SHOW CADILLAC
No Show Cadillac, otherwise known as Connor Scaro, is a ramblin’ musician from Milwaukee who dropped out of college and started tramping around the country. No Show embodies the spirit of a rambler with his self professed “dirty folk” sound, which he describes as “everything but country,” for “no real reason.” Currently touring through the Midwest, he captures crowds large and small with his unique blend of Folk, Blues, and Americana at gigs ranging from private events to festivals.

13 years ago, the band Sly Chef & the Vegetables played their first show at Water City Grill in Oshkosh, WI. Coincidentally, this was also the last performance by the Vegetables. But the trio that came together to make music that night immediately carried on with a new moniker, The Operators. The Operators evolved into the Smooth Operators and the rest is history.

The trio that started it all, the nucleus, the molten core, the Mother Brain of this operation, has remained firm all the while. Tonight, come join the original trio (Joe Slyzelia, Mike Underwood, David Jerabek) for our debut performance at a pretty sweetastic new music venue!

Caley Conway takes the stage in candy apple red with Pat Keen, slinging a matching telecaster and a new set of rules for the singer/songwriter paradigm. Rooted in folk but hardly bound to it, her inventive style ranges from jazz to post-rock, hints at the familiar, and embraces a dissonant beauty. The Milwaukee native’s breezy voice and disarming wit belie a deep complexity that has earned her praise as “the next big thing in folk music” by No Depression Magazine. Paste Magazine praised her 2016 full-length Silk for Life as “an ambitious piece that puts Conway on the map.” 2018 saw her sharing stages with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Joan Shelley and more. Equally enthralling as a solo performer or a full band with backup singers, Conway leaves rooms hushed; her audiences somewhere between chilled and chuckling.
